Gotthard

Gotthard é uma banda de Hard Rock formada em Lugano, Suíça.

Começaram em 1989 quando o vocalista Steve Lee e o guitarrista Leo Leoni deixam sua antiga banda e formam uma nova chamada Krak, gravaram um disco, mas nunca foi lançado. Completaram a banda o amigo e baixista Marc Lynn e após algumas mudanças no posto de baterista Hena Habegger se firmou.

Os integrantes não estavam satisfeitos com o nome Krak, pois era parecido com outra banda também suíça chamada Krokus. Adotaram o nome Gotthard por sugestão de Leo Leoni.

Lançaram seu primeiro disco em 1992 chamado Gotthard, trazia na capa o Santo Sudário, o disco foi um sucesso, gravaram clipes que foram exibidos na MTV e noutros canais da Suíça, tocaram também em festivais na Europa.

Em 1994 lançaram Dial Hard, que também foi um sucesso e rendeu extensas turnês. Em 1996 veio G., que ganhou platina na Suíça e permaneceu por várias semanas no topo do Top 50 na Alemanha. No final do mesmo ano anunciaram que o guitarrista Mandy Meyer (Asia, Krokus) entrara na banda.

Em 1999 veio mais um disco de estúdio, Open. Um trabalho um pouco diferente dos demais, mais leve e melódico.

Homerun em 2001 serviu para aumentar ainda mais o prestígio da banda, que a cada ano se tornava mais conhecida no mundo. Human Zoo foi gravado no estúdio da banda na Suíça e lançado em 2003.

O guitarrista Freddy Scherer, que já havia trabalhado com a banda, volta para substituir Mandy Meyer, seguiram então lançando Lipservice (2005), Domino Effect (2007) e Need To Believe (2009).

Recentemente, em 5 de outubro de 2010, o vocalista Steve Lee foi morto acidentalmente durante uma viagem de motocicleta nos EUA. O vocalista estava com mais um grupo de amigos, realizando um sonho que sempre era adiado devido à falta de tempo. A cerca de 50 milhas de Las Vegas, o grupo parou para colocar roupas de chuva, pois havia começado a chover. Com a pista escorregadia, uma reboque de caminhão que passava começou a derrapar, provavelmente deveria ser uma curva, o motorista ainda tentou agir, mas seu reboque atingiu cinco das motos que estavam paradas à beira da estrada, uma delas voou e atingiu Steve Lee. Ele morreu no mesmo dia, com 48 anos. Faziam parte também do grupo a namorada de Lee, Brigitte Voss e o baixista do Gotthard, Marc Lynn. Somente Lee morreu, todos os outros companheiros saíram ilesos.

Uma pena perder um ótimo vocalista como ele, uma grande perda para a música.

Depois dessa ocasião a banda está parada, não sei se procurarão um novo vocalista ou se terminarão definitivamente.
